Our Ethos
Every Little Bit Counts
Our goal at Bandon Estate is to set a new benchmark in sustainable design and living. By developing a strategy where residents can thrive alongside the natural habitat of the land, we look to engage with an instinctive and gentle touch, to slow down and rejuvenate through the connections we create with each other.
Our sustainability strategy was set out at the beginning of the design process, incorporating our desire for a full life-cycle and operation of the project. We want to hold ourselves to the highest standard of land stewardship and environmental design, not only for our ambitions at Bandon, but also to push that standard on future developments more broadly.
We are building Bandon Estate for the future; to create a place with love for community, luxury and tranquility in harmony with the existing nature.

Energy Building and Production
We utilise locally quarried limestone as our building material to reduce transportation emissions.
Locally grown Bamboo is used for light-weight structures. This regenerative material is prolific in Jamaica.
The best way to reduce the carbon footprint is to build buildings people want around for a long time, we have carefully designed our villas for just that.
We utilise the heat of the sun to directly heat hot water on each house with solar collectors.
Photovoltaic has been installed on roofs throughout the development combined with battery storage to achieve as close to energy independence as possible.
Water is pumped across the site given the nature of the topography. Therefore we’ve invented a system of solar pumps and high level storage tanks to pump water when the sun is shining.
Efficient Energy Use
The local limestone has a naturally high thermal mass. We have placed the bedrooms inside massive limestone structures to ensure they keep a cool temperature.
High ceilings, roof shapes and ventilation chimneys make the most of breezes to naturally ventilate the buildings.
Insolation and high- quality construction will reduce the amount of heating or cooling lost from the buildings.
Components have been carefully selected to conserve the electricity without compromising the guest experience.
The use of control systems will be explored to use throughout the properties to optimise energy and water usage.
We Want To Tread Gently on the Land
Social Responability
At Bandon Estate we are committed to the positive contribution we can make to the local community and economy. By creating employment opportunities, a happy and healthy staff well-fare, with access to healthcare, comfortable accommodation and access to amenities we will be creating economic and social opportunities.
Anything we can´t grow ourselves is sought from local suppliers to not only reduce our carbon footprint but also support the local economy. We hope to create a place the local community wants to be involved with and is proud to have in its neighbourhood.
